Calvin Eugene Black, Jr.

Calvin Eugene Black, Jr.  Born January 22, 1950 and died in the Ocala area on October 7, 1995, succumbing to cirrhosis of the liver after great suffering.  He is survived by a daughter, Lisa Black Ruiz.  (information submitted by daughter, Lisa Ruiz)

Calvin and I both lived off Riverside Dr near Roosevelt Blvd., me on Parrish Place he on Charon St.( I think) We grew up together in Jr. and Sr. High, I went to Robert E Lee and so did he for awhile and transferred to Forrest.  We had paper routes together, receiving the papers in his yard, folding them then on to our routes.  We partied together, got in trouble together, fixed cars, I remember a 1931 blue coupe he had. He married a girl who lived just down the street and had a daughter.  He had a well drilling business ( which I worked for him awhile) and a pump business, also a four wheel drive truck build business.  I went in the military (Viet Nam) and lost contact with him , talking once to him many years later.  I had left Jacksonville and never moved back, ending up in Georgia.
Calvin and I had many good times together we considered each other as good friends but as things go growing up, getting married, even war, we lost track.  I am so sorry to see he is gone and to never make contact in all these years.  I have thought of him often and will always  consider him a best friend.
