Dave was a great guy ! Our parents were friends (of course, Navy "brats") and I always saw him after school as we were both athletics and practicing never ends.
The last time I saw Dave was just prior to his passing, when he gave us a ticket for riding in the back of a pick-up truck.
Spent many hours with Dave in his squad car patrolling the streets and highways around Starke. I was in the news business reporting and cameraman for WTLV-12 and WJXT-4. I did ride alongs with Dave and we talked a lot about our days at NBF. I was visiting Gainesville and driving up to Jax when I saw two FHP in the middle of 301. I pulled over to ask where Dave was. I got the answer I have heard way too often, "Didn't you hear?" That sucked.
